The story of MRS began with a small, but visionary endeavour by Vaid.Gyan Chandra jain , a physician who lived in Etawah (U.P) . His mission was to provide effective cure for ordinary people in far-flung villages , In 1940 with the help of seth Sohan Lal Jain who lived in Kolkata. Vaid Gyan Chandra Jain setup ( Shree Mahaveer Dharmarth Aushdhalaya ) In this Aushdhalaya training & treamnent of approx 200 patients per day started getting free of cost , further due to high number of patients & for managing , a society had to be formed which was named “Mahaveer Relief Society” nominal amount is being charge for medicine & managing the society . With missionary zeal and fervour, Vaid Gyan Chandra Jain undertook the task of preparing natural cures for the killer diseases of those days like cholera, malaria .

Soon the news of his medicines traveled, and he came to be known as the trusted 'Daktar' or Doctor who came up with effective cures. And that is how his venture Mahaveer Relief Society got its name .
